Can I use CookBook without an internet connection?

Quick answer: Yes - on the iOS and Android apps you can view any recipe that has already synced to your device. You can’t add or edit recipes, update the meal planner, or use AI/import features until you’re back online. The Web App always requires an internet connection.

What works offline

  • Full recipe view (ingredients, steps, photos, notes).
  • Built-in timers, voice guidance, unit conversions.
  • Shopping lists that were already cached.

What doesn’t work offline

  • Creating or editing recipes.
  • Smart imports, AI features, OCR scans.
  • Meal planner edits or Instacart ordering.
  • Syncing changes to other devices.

Tips for guaranteed offline access

  1. Open the CookBook mobile app while you’re still online and let it finish syncing.
  2. Verify that the recipe thumbnails have loaded; that means the data is cached locally.
  3. Switch to airplane mode - your saved recipes stay available.

Remember, app.cookbookmanager.com (the Web App) is browser-based and won’t load without Wi-Fi or cellular data.
