Articles on: Storage, Syncing and the Cloud ☁️

Where and how are my recipes stored?

Quick answer: Every recipe is saved locally on your phone or tablet for offline cooking and also backed up to CookBook’s encrypted cloud. That cloud copy keeps all your devices - iOS, Android, and the Web App in sync.

Mobile apps (iOS & Android)

  • Local copy: Each recipe, photo, and shopping list is cached on your device, so you can cook without an internet connection.
  • Cloud backup: The moment you come online, changes upload to CookBook’s secure servers and download to your other devices.

Web App (desktop & laptop)

  • Runs entirely in your browser at app.cookbookmanager.com.
  • Requires an internet connection; no local storage beyond standard browser caching.
  • Reads and writes directly to the same encrypted cloud database, so everything stays current.

Why both local and cloud?

  • Offline cooking: No Wi-Fi in the kitchen? Your recipes are still there.
  • Data safety: Even if you lose or replace a device, your entire collection is ready to re-download after you sign in.
  • Instant sync: Edit on iPhone, view on Android, or print from the Web App - changes appear everywhere in seconds.
