How do I import recipes from ReciMe into CookBook?

Quick answer: ReciMe does not currently offer a built-in export feature. To move your recipes to CookBook, you can request an export from ReciMe, use CookBook’s linked CSV bulk import template, or import recipes individually using our web app and browser extension.

About importing from ReciMe

ReciMe does not provide a self-service way to export your recipes. Your recipes are still yours, but moving them requires one of the methods below.

CookBook supports importing recipes from many sources and formats, and we are always happy to help you migrate your collection. We believe you should never feel locked into one app.

Option 1: Ask ReciMe for an export

Try contacting Recime support directly.

  1. Contact ReciMe support and ask them to export your recipes.
  2. If they provide a file or raw recipe data, download CookBook’s CSV import template.
  3. Add your recipe information to the CSV file, following the columns in the template.
  4. Email the completed CSV file to team@cookbookmanager.com with your CookBook username or email.
  5. Our team will bulk import your recipes for you.

This is the fastest option if you have a large recipe collection.

Option 2: Use CookBook’s CSV template with help from ChatGPT or Claude

If ReciMe provides your recipe data in a format that is hard to organise, or if you can copy your recipe information from ReciMe, you may be able to use an AI tool such as ChatGPT or Claude to help structure it into CookBook’s CSV format.

  1. Download CookBook’s CSV import template.
  2. Export, copy, or gather your recipe information from ReciMe.
  3. Open ChatGPT, Claude, or another AI assistant.
  4. Provide the AI tool with the CookBook CSV template.
  5. Provide the AI tool with your ReciMe recipe data.
  6. Ask it to format your recipe data using the exact columns from CookBook’s CSV template.
  7. Review the CSV carefully to make sure the recipe information is in the correct columns.
  8. Email the completed CSV file to team@cookbookmanager.com with your CookBook username or email.

You can use a prompt like this:

I am transferring recipes from ReciMe into CookBook. Please convert the recipe data below into the exact CSV format shown in this template. Keep the same column names and structure. Map the recipe title, ingredients, method, servings, prep time, cook time, notes, source, and any other available fields into the closest matching CSV columns. If a field is missing, leave it blank. Please return the result as a CSV file.

This can work well if you have recipe data from ReciMe but it is not already in a format CookBook can directly import.

Please review any AI-generated CSV before sending it to us, as AI tools can occasionally place information in the wrong column or miss details.

Option 3: Import recipes using the Chrome browser extension

If your recipes are accessible in the ReciMe web app:

  1. Open the ReciMe web app in Google Chrome.
  2. Install the CookBook Chrome browser extension.
  3. Login to the CookBook Web App.
  4. Open a recipe in ReciMe.
  5. Click the CookBook extension icon to import the recipe.
  6. Review and save it to your CookBook account.

This works well for importing recipes one by one while browsing.

Option 4: Copy and paste into CookBook

For smaller collections or individual recipes:

  1. Open a recipe in ReciMe.
  2. Copy the recipe text.
  3. Open CookBook and tap Paste from the quick actions, or go to Add → Text or Paste.
  4. Review the scan and save.

CookBook will structure the recipe and let you edit, tag, and organise it immediately.

Why CookBook is different

CookBook lets you:

  • Export and back up your recipes at any time.
  • Bulk import recipes from other apps and formats.
  • Move your data freely without lock-in.

Your recipes belong to you.

If you’re unsure which import method is best for your situation, tap Submit a request and tell us how many recipes you have. We’re happy to guide you through the easiest path.
